This policy explains what personal data Hello Expats - a brand of FINWIWO AG - collects when you use this website, why we process it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have under the Swiss FADP and the EU GDPR.

Hello Expats is a brand of FINWIWO AG, an independent financial intermediary based in Switzerland, registered under FINMA registration number 35704. FINWIWO AG, Oberstrasse 153, 9000 St. Gallen, Switzerland, is the controller responsible for the personal data processed through this website.
We collect the data you give us directly and the limited technical data our website needs to operate. Data you provide includes your name, email address, telephone number, canton or postcode, permit and family situation, and the figures you enter into our calculators or booking and enquiry forms. Technical data includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the date and time of your visit. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we ask you not to send us sensitive data such as health details unless we specifically request it for an advisory mandate.
We use your data to answer your enquiry, prepare and hold your consultation, produce the estimates and comparisons you request, deliver and administer our advisory services, keep the website secure and improve it, and comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. Where you have agreed to it, we may also send you occasional updates relevant to expats in Switzerland; every such message contains an unsubscribe link. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects for you.
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) we process personal data lawfully, in good faith and proportionately. Where the EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for marketing messages and non-essential cookies; the performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps you request (Art. 6(1)(b)) for consultations and advisory work; our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure website, preventing spam and improving our services; and our legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) for accounting and regulatory record-keeping.
We share personal data only where necessary: with our IT service providers for website hosting and content delivery, transactional email delivery, appointment scheduling, and privacy-friendly usage measurement; with insurers, banks, pension foundations or tax authorities when you instruct us to act on your behalf; and with our auditors, legal advisers or the competent authorities where the law requires it. All processors act on our documented instructions under a data-processing agreement. Where data is transferred outside Switzerland or the EEA, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses together with the Swiss addendum.
We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site work and to protect our forms from abuse. Any analytics or embedded review widgets we use are configured to minimise personal data. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off without breaking parts of the site.
You have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data deleted, to have processing restricted, to receive your data in a portable format, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Write to info@finwiwo.ch and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Bern or, where the GDPR applies, your local supervisory authority.
We keep enquiry and calculator data for 24 months from your last contact with us, unless it becomes part of a client file. Client and mandate records, together with the related correspondence and accounting documents, are kept for ten years as required by Swiss commercial and anti-money-laundering law. Marketing consent records are kept for as long as you remain subscribed plus three years. When a retention period ends, we delete or irreversibly anonymise the data.
Our website is served exclusively over TLS and personal data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure in Switzerland or the EU. Access is limited to the advisers and staff who need it, protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please do not send us documents containing sensitive data by unencrypted email; we will provide a secure upload link on request.
